It is the Exilis Thermal Laser and it's the HOTTEST new device for toning, tightening and smoothing the skin. It is brand new on the market, just approved by the FDA and I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to get this interview and catch all on video.
Dr. Atkins from Atlanta Medical Day Spa demonstrates the Exilis by having a treatment performed on her own hand. See the incredible before and after I caught on camera!
I must get this treatment for my hands because they need it… and in a serious way. The thing about hands is that they do so much and over time there is no way to disguise all the wear and tear (help and love). They offer help to so many and it shows.
I should be less superficial and not so susceptible (sheep-like baaaaa) to instant gratification that the world is offering me everywhere I look. Where is my spiritual side? It is being stifled at the moment. My physical desires are dominating once again. It is challenging to balance the two polar opposites of spirituality and physicality, but it must done.
Two hours before I was in deep prayer, not even caring if I had a body, and I even wept at one point. Now I am thinking of a plastic procedure to remove the age from my hands? How did I get here? This is sick, really. This world of erasing is really twisted but at the same time, I love that it is available if I choose to engage.
Why can't I appreciate every spot and vein and line on my hands? It means I was given a gift of almost 48 years of life. My birthday is just around the corner and I deserve every part of my aging hands. I earned them!
That sounds so good and nice and it's truly how I feel inside, but after I saw what the Exilis laser did on Dr. Atkins hand, the shallow part of me rose to the surface and I made an appointment to get the treatment on my own hands. When you see the miracle right in front of your face, it's hard to resist booking an appointment (immediately if not sooner, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars).
I have been a fan of non-ablative lasers for years and attribute them to keeping my skin from hanging to the floor so I continue to recommend them as they are on the far end of the scale of plastic, when it comes to procedures.
On this plastic scale I put cosmetic procedures into two categories:
A. Non-invasive – no cutting, minimal or no downtime, subtle results, preserve or gently enhance your look but not change the way you look and
B. Invasive – general anesthesia, cutting, blood, stitches, days or weeks of downtime, dramatic results that leave permanent change and definitely change the way you look
Non-ablative lasers are in the non-invasive category. If you go to the Exilis web site and look at the before and after pictures, there is a difference, but it is subtle. The women look rested after 4 treatments but they still look like themselves. This is what non-invasive treatments do. They offer a subtle, natural looking and fresher looking you.
The key to these treatments is getting them when you are still on the young"ish" side of the hill. I tried to pinpoint an age from Dr. Atkins but she resisted and said "When you're ready". I say start at least by 40 because that is when everything begins to drop and you will begin to fight the "sink and hang" syndrome. It's not a bad thing, but just a little reality that we have to encounter to remind us that we are not lasting forever.
The Exilis looks very promising and at $400 per treatment, it is very affordable compared to traditional laser treatments that can cost thousands. Excellent and lasting results can be seen after just 4 treatments.
What I like most about these non-ablative treatments is that they make the skin look so good that you can wear less and less makeup, as time goes on. That means less chemicals on the skin. Getting regular non-ablative laser treatments has saved me from purchasing and putting on a lot foundation over the last few years. I only wear it when I go out in public (carpool and the grocery store doesn't count) or when on camera.
As we age we can't wear as much makeup because it sits in the fine lines and makes them look worse making us look even older. This is another reason why I like these treatments. I guess they make letting go of makeup easier.
Look for Exilis near you and make sure you have a good doctor who is experienced with non-ablative lasers.
If you happen to live in or near the Atlanta area, definitely give Dr. Atkins a call.
