Concentrate on choosing and eating the most densely nutritious foods you can get because this is what you will need to do to protect yourself from the possible exposure coming from Japan.

As always, your food will be your medicine.

Thyroid Stimulating Foods from 2001

A decade ago I ran a diet site that was focused on supporting the thyroid gland and endocrine system.

Thousands felt better and improved thyroid function by combining thyroid supporting foods like the ones listed below with the natural thyroid supplement 'Nutri-Meds'.

I loved the Nutri-Meds product so much I bought part of the company and was a silent partner for many years. I no longer own any part of Nutri-Meds, nor am I an affiliate for them now. Just had to disclose that one…

I still say that Nutri-Meds has the best all natural thyroid supplements around. When my thyroid was extremely hypo, I was taking 4 tablets a day. My thyroid function improved over the years so now I take maybe one a day. Sometimes I forget but I still feel great.

Here are the thyroid stimulating foods and I personally DO NOT recommend certain foods on this list, but I am providing all foods that are in fact thyroid stimulating nonetheless…

Adequate protein (eggs, raw milk and raw cheeses), shellfish, sea salt and whole carbohydrates (fruits, and whole carbs like potatoes–no flour products), parsley, apricots, dates, prunes and coconut oil.

Freshly extracted green juices are also great to stimulate thyroid production. The more raw food you eat, the better you can keep your temperature in the normal range.  Raw fruits and vegetables contain plenty of enzymes and enzymes are crucial for correct hormone production.

Shoot for the 70% live food principle and do the best you can. There may be days when you don't eat that much live, but do your best every day — you will feel so much better and also support your thyroid at the same time.

More on potatoes:  Dr. Raymond Peat states, "The protein of potatoes is extremely high quality, and the quantity, in terms of a percentage, is similar to that of milk."  Potatoes are considered taboo on many diets, but people do lose weight eating potatoes.

If you have a sensitivity to russet potatoes, choose sweet, red, yellow, golden, purple or fingerling varieties of potatoes instead. There are over 2000 varieties of potatoes, so you have plenty to choose from. If you are vegetarian or don't eat much meat, potatoes will be an essential part of your diet.  Without them you will not be getting adequate protein, but with them you will get thyroid stimulating benefits.

Strong vegetarian or even vegan diets parallel hypothyroidism because they lack the proper proteins. If you are still thinking potatoes make you fat, think of all of the early immigrants and settlers that lived off of potatoes — they weren't fat.

Potatoes are perfect for a vegetarian diet.  Make sure to start your meal with a big raw salad, and then eat the potatoes until satisfied, not full or stuffed. And combine potatoes with lesser quality vegetable proteins (like beans). Dr. Peat says that vegetable proteins like beans and nuts are so low that they hardly function as protein.  When eating beans, eat them with rice or potatoes to up your protein.  A salad with some beans and a little nuts would be a good combo too.  DO NOT OVEREAT.

Dr. Peat also states that "When too little protein, or the wrong kind of protein is eaten, there is a stress reaction, with thyroid suppression. Many of the people who don't respond to a thyroid supplement are simply not eating enough good protein".

Muscle meats (including the muscles of poultry and fish) contain large amounts of the amino acids that suppress the thyroid, and shouldn't be the only source of protein. Since muscle meats inhibit the thyroid production, it will help to use a little organic cottage cheese, raw cheese or nuts, etc., which help balance the proteins from the muscle meats.

Fluoride Info For Contemplation

Many people have written to me over the years asking about fluoride and my answer has been the same.

Do all the research you can on the subject then make an educated decision for yourself.

And that goes for everything in life. We can no longer just trust what others tell us to be true. We must investigate so that we are positive what we are doing is right.

For those that would like to contemplate fluoride here is an excellent video from Natural News TV that shows the history and industry of fluoride.

Our world has so much information available to everyone now via the web that claiming ignorance will no longer be a viable excuse. Not that it ever was, but with all the mouth pieces screaming truth, those that don't listen are choosing to look the other way. This is a dangerous way to live in my opinion.

Get the facts and protect yourself. If you won't do it, who will?
