Then and Now

The latest update on the radiation situation reminded me of something that one of the Sages said thousands of years ago.

In the ancient of days R’ Chanina said:

The son of David will not come until a fish will be sought for a sick person, and it will not be found…

Today, Michael Friedlander, a U.S. based nuclear engineer, told CNN: “That’s the one [cesium] I am worried about. Plankton absorbs the cesium, the fish eat the plankton, the bigger fish eat smaller fish – so every step you go up the food chain, the concentration of cesium gets higher.”

Michael’s comments struck me because I remembered what R’ Chanina had said.

There will come a time when a sick person would need to eat and they wouldn’t be able to because no fish could be found.
Or maybe R’ Chanina meant that fish will be so contaminated that a sick person would not be able to eat it.

In any case, the glaring reality of what is happening cannot be denied. Our water was polluted even before this happened and now it is going to get worse.
Be prepared and say your prayers.

Radiation Prevention by Dr. Bond

Those that are currently eating an organic and whole foods diet and complementing with vitamins, minerals and superfoods are already ahead of the game.

Concentrate on choosing and eating the most densely nutritious foods you can get because this is what you will need to do to protect yourself from the possible exposure coming from Japan.

As always, your food will be your medicine.

Don’t Wait, ACT NOW.

Obviously I am no prophet, but I will say that the current situation in Japan is very close to UGLY. My gut says we are all headed for trouble.

Pray people. Pray hard and cry too because tears open the gates of Heaven.

Fukushima update: Three raging meltdowns are underway.

Direct quote from Dr. Kaku: “If it goes to a full-scale evacuation of all personnel, it means that firefighters are no longer putting water onto the cores. That’s the only thing preventing a full-scale meltdown at three reactor sites. Once they evacuate, then we past the point of no return. Meltdowns are inevitable at three reactor sites, leading to a tragedy far beyond that of Chernobyl, creating permanent dead zones in Japan.”

Side Effects of Urban Farming

sowing true seed

When a neighbor got a glimpse of the Tooth Soap® Urban Farm recently, she got very excited and asked if it was okay if her boys came over to see it.

I was all for it since I believe we owe it to our children to show them the basics of food production.

When the boys showed up and saw the garden they ran to it like it was candy! They wanted to plant, dig and be a part of what was going on, in any way they could.

It was a beautiful sight to see the boys so excited about the dirt and what would eventually grow out of it.

The boys asked if they could come back to water the trees and give a hand when the chickens arrived.

I said, “Yes! Absolutely! You can all help me clean out the chicken coop!”

They all cheered and had HUGE smiles on their faces imagining how fun it would be to clean out the chicken coop.

I didn’t mention to them that when they cleaned out the coop, it would be full of chicken doo. If I let them know of the doo, they might not want to do what they said they would do.

Honestly, I didn’t want to ruin their moment.

After watching the boys and their excitement I am even more convinced that what all of us need to be doing is planting a seed or two.

I believe one way to overcome factory food is to GROW YOUR OWN. Even if it is just ONE plant.

Every organic or heirloom plant that each of us sows, harvests and eats is one less crop that is planted and harvested by the GMO profiteers.

The silos are overflowing with GMO corn, wheat and soy. But it has to stop somehow. It has to stop with each one of us, a little at a time.

Even if it is just a tomato or potato plant, every little bit helps. It is always the little things that make the biggest difference. Imagine if this was done by thousands and thousands of people.

The fact remains that we can most certainly change the world, one person at a time and I believe we can make a different one organic plant at a time.

Consider starting an Urban Farm today in your community and get ready for the side effects!

Y2K and the Survival Arsenal

Two years before Y2K happened I had a 3 month supply of food and a 6 week supply of water ready for my family of four point five people.

My husband at the time had a daughter who was with us every other week, so I needed partial supplies for her too, in case the impending disaster were to actually take place.

None of my friends were prepared and they didn’t believe that Y2K was going to cause problems.

I had my doubts though, so I purchased all the basic survival tools and was ready for the worse case scenario. I have always believed that everyone should have an emergency supply of food because we just never know what could happen. The Y2K deal just pushed me to put it together.

On the evening of December 31st, 1999, I filled all the sinks and bathtubs with water, to add to my water arsenal in the garage.

I remained calm because I was prepared. If I am prepared in my mind first, and then take action to prepare for the physical part, I am good to go. I do all I can and then I put the rest in the hands of the Creator.

Dick Clark began counting down and then the clock struck midnight… and all the computers remained working and our electricity kept the lights shining bright.

I was actually relieved that all was well and that nothing materialized. I was glad I could drain the water from all the tubs and sinks.

Let’s face it, the end of the world has an ugly and dark feeling attached to it, so nobody really wants to be a part of it, even if they have done all the preparedness ahead of time.

Y2K was a semi-HOAX in my opinion. I say “semi” because a hoax is actual deception and I don’t believe that there was intended deception in the Y2K movement. But there were some charlatans taking advantage of the situation and that is par for the course with pretty much anything that generates revenue.

All of us that were involved in Y2K preparedness planning were serious about what we were doing. I believe the companies selling the supplies were all prepared themselves. Sure, there were scammers because there always will be, but for the most part, those involved in end time preparedness are serious people who want to survive and they are not about deception. In fact, they are the ones that can see through the deception and that is why they are involved in preparedness in the first place!

The weirdest part about Y2K was that almost no one commented on the fact that it never materialized! Why wasn’t anyone talking about it? The web was buzzing with Y2K before midnight in 1999, and then after the clock struck twelve, no one spoke of it anymore.

Y2K ended up being nothing more than “two letters and a number” but it fueled an entire industry and made a nice living for many.

It is now 11 years later and the Fukushima disaster has caused a major frenzy in the preparedness and survival retail establishments. Some online retailers are posting notices that say there will be a “160 day delay” in shipment of food in #10 cans.

Getting my survival arsenal together again has been pressing on me these last few months, even before Fukushima. It’s what caused me to start the Tooth Soap® Urban Farm. What happened in Japan with the nuclear reactors just made everything more real and made it more of a priority.

It is always good to be prepared and since I was a Girl Scout growing up, it’s natural for me to always think 10 steps ahead.

I have been putting my survival arsenal together again these past few months and will share what I am doing through upcoming posts. This time it is different because I believe that the Victory Garden is the only way we will survive in the future.

It is “US” versus Monsanto and our battle will take place in the ground or in a pot or in a plant bed.

Living off of canned and dried food 100% is not my idea of really living so I am growing crops and getting to know the ins and outs of how to maintain a healthy garden. My intent is to combine survival foods (dry, canned) with fresh produce and eggs, plus SUPER foods that are dense in nutrients.

If things got ugly the most important thing we can do is keep our immune systems STRONG. This can be done through proper nutrition and superfoods that are now available with a 3-7 year shelf life.

Stay tuned and join me as I start sharing what I am preparing for the future.

Always remember that today is the first day of the rest of your life. Prepare, prepare, prepare.

Honest Reporting on Fukushima

There was an outrageous thunderstorm in Atlanta this week. All that rain was pouring down like buckets on the baby plants.

I was worried that they would be washed away but after the storm they were standing tall and it was as though a storm had never passed through.

I should have been thinking about the plume that was headed our way or maybe I purposely ignored it.

Regardless of what I acknowledged or ignored, that radioactive plume has hit the east coast and scientists are picking up low levels of radioactive iodine here now.

So much for my hopes and dreams of farming organic and without ANY toxic substances.

Right now the Tooth Soap® Urban Farm has plants that are watered and speckled with low levels of radioactive iodine. Tears, tears, tears when I pray, pray, pray.

Avoiding Thyroid Inhibitors

cabbage, broccoli

The thyroid supporting foods have been listed, but what about those foods that "inhibit" the thyroid gland?

What foods or chemicals suppress your thyroid? This info is from 2001 and it helped many who were suffering from EXTREME hypothyroid symptoms.

What these HYPOthyroid sufferers did was:

AVOID ALL unsaturated liquid oils like flax, sunflower, canola, safflower, corn oil and other vegetable oils.

They DID use Extra virgin olive oil. If they were dealing with SEVERE thyroid symptoms, they avoided (IN EXCESS) ALL raw cruciferous veggies (cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower– They ate them more OFTEN  IF THEY were LIGHTLY STEAMED FIRST).

They avoided fluoride, excess estrogen (birth control pills, Estrogen Replacement Therapy) and pesticides (they are estrogenic).

Those with very severe HYPOthyroid symptoms omitted:

  • brussels sprouts
  • peaches
  • pears
  • spinach
  • turnips
  • cabbage
  • broccoli
  • kale
  • mustard greens

until their symptoms were under control.

They avoided all soy because of the phytoestrogens and other chemicals. Read more on soy.

They shunned GREEN and BLACK tea as it contains extremely high levels of fluoride.

More on avoiding thyroid suppressing raw foods…

No one needs to avoid thyroid suppressing foods like cabbage, kale, broccoli, etc., they just need to avoid them IN EXCESS.  Most people would never eat enough to make any difference.

This fact is very important, and it is a huge mistake for people to avoid them completely because they contain unique and very necessary nutrients.

For instance, there is no reason to avoid cabbage in an occasional salad or coleslaw, none whatsoever. Nor to avoid taking broccoli or cauliflower at a salad bar, or picking the red cabbage out of a salad.

But if a person eats a large serving of coleslaw everyday for lunch, and lots of raw broccoli and cauliflower in their dinner salads everyday, then a problem could develop.

Most people don't normally eat enough of these vegetables to make any difference and most people only decorate with them.

Sometimes in farm communities where these vegetables are grown, people will eat excess. Also, sometimes a person that loves cauliflower (for instance), wanting badly to lose weight, will munch on a whole head of cauliflower every evening after work.

This could result in some thyroid suppression, just like juicing a half head of cabbage everyday might or regularly drinking lots of sauerkraut juice might.

Always the key is moderation in all things, never extremism.

Something to take note of is that if you are dealing with hypothyroidism, it will show in your teeth and gums.

Many people I know were actually made aware of their hypothyroid condition by a dentist, who was knowledgable in this area.

Urban Farm Babies

I woke up early this morning (as usual) and couldn't wait to get to the garden. I almost always pray before I do anything so it was my usual routine this morning and afterwards I was headed for the dirt.

The moon was still in the sky when I stepped out there and I have to say, it was pretty breathtaking. I understood why so many love working the land and with plants.

I didn't have my camera with me when the moon was still shining, but later on when the sun came out I took some pics of the babies.

They are so lovely… the whole feeling of that section of the property has completely changed. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner.

I always thought I didn't have enough room… but the problem was that I didn't have enough vision.

I couldn't see how awesome the situation was that was in front of me. There was plenty of room to grow and all that was needed was someone to put a plan together and take action.

I wasn't able to see what was in front of me before, but I absolutely see it now.

I couldn't have dreamed up a better situation than I have now for what I am trying to accomplish. All of this is such a blessing!

It makes me wonder how many other things that are ready to flourish, that are right under my nose, that I could be blind to.

I will keep pondering that one but In the meantime, take a look at these beautiful babies.

Thyroid Stimulating Foods from 2001

A decade ago I ran a diet site that was focused on supporting the thyroid gland and endocrine system.

Thousands felt better and improved thyroid function by combining thyroid supporting foods like the ones listed below with the natural thyroid supplement 'Nutri-Meds'.

I loved the Nutri-Meds product so much I bought part of the company and was a silent partner for many years. I no longer own any part of Nutri-Meds, nor am I an affiliate for them now. Just had to disclose that one…

I still say that Nutri-Meds has the best all natural thyroid supplements around. When my thyroid was extremely hypo, I was taking 4 tablets a day. My thyroid function improved over the years so now I take maybe one a day. Sometimes I forget but I still feel great.

Here are the thyroid stimulating foods and I personally DO NOT recommend certain foods on this list, but I am providing all foods that are in fact thyroid stimulating nonetheless…

Adequate protein (eggs, raw milk and raw cheeses), shellfish, sea salt and whole carbohydrates (fruits, and whole carbs like potatoes–no flour products), parsley, apricots, dates, prunes and coconut oil.

Freshly extracted green juices are also great to stimulate thyroid production. The more raw food you eat, the better you can keep your temperature in the normal range.  Raw fruits and vegetables contain plenty of enzymes and enzymes are crucial for correct hormone production.

Shoot for the 70% live food principle and do the best you can. There may be days when you don't eat that much live, but do your best every day — you will feel so much better and also support your thyroid at the same time.

More on potatoes:  Dr. Raymond Peat states, "The protein of potatoes is extremely high quality, and the quantity, in terms of a percentage, is similar to that of milk."  Potatoes are considered taboo on many diets, but people do lose weight eating potatoes.

If you have a sensitivity to russet potatoes, choose sweet, red, yellow, golden, purple or fingerling varieties of potatoes instead. There are over 2000 varieties of potatoes, so you have plenty to choose from. If you are vegetarian or don't eat much meat, potatoes will be an essential part of your diet.  Without them you will not be getting adequate protein, but with them you will get thyroid stimulating benefits.

Strong vegetarian or even vegan diets parallel hypothyroidism because they lack the proper proteins. If you are still thinking potatoes make you fat, think of all of the early immigrants and settlers that lived off of potatoes — they weren't fat.

Potatoes are perfect for a vegetarian diet.  Make sure to start your meal with a big raw salad, and then eat the potatoes until satisfied, not full or stuffed. And combine potatoes with lesser quality vegetable proteins (like beans). Dr. Peat says that vegetable proteins like beans and nuts are so low that they hardly function as protein.  When eating beans, eat them with rice or potatoes to up your protein.  A salad with some beans and a little nuts would be a good combo too.  DO NOT OVEREAT.

Dr. Peat also states that "When too little protein, or the wrong kind of protein is eaten, there is a stress reaction, with thyroid suppression. Many of the people who don't respond to a thyroid supplement are simply not eating enough good protein".

Muscle meats (including the muscles of poultry and fish) contain large amounts of the amino acids that suppress the thyroid, and shouldn't be the only source of protein. Since muscle meats inhibit the thyroid production, it will help to use a little organic cottage cheese, raw cheese or nuts, etc., which help balance the proteins from the muscle meats.

Farmer D installed the plant beds and they are gorgeous! There is a strong smell of cedar in the air too. I wonder if the moths will exit stage left if they fly by and happen to get a whiff?

Fortunately, I made the right decision by having Farmer D install the irrigation system because after watching them for a few hours, I'm positive I would not have been able to set it up correctly. Thank you Farmer D!

Little Buried Things

It's easy to fool others if we cover something we don't want them to know about with a 'pretty' covering. It is simple to distract many with artificial, calm and beautiful exteriors that mask potentially dangerous situations or hidden problems. Take the Tooth Soap® Urban Farm for example.

I find this lovely patch of clover where the plant beds are going to be placed and I start to dig to make the ground level, and low and behold, I don't find worms but I find something else. It is large, white and has an end that looked like it would burst easily.

At first I am thinking, "The free ranging hens are going to love these!"

I continue to stare at the gigantic worm of all worms and realize that this might not be so good after all. It is HUGE and could probably eat an entire tomato and cucumber in a day. I call Farmer R who lives down the way and she tells me it doesn't sound good but there is an organic powder I can put on the lawn that will kill them. She instructs me to take one of the grubs to Farmer D and they will know what to do.

Farmer R also says, "Anytime you have a problem, just take the bug or leaf (that the bug ate) to Farmer D and they will give you the right organic solution." I continued to dig and found so many grubs that I was beginning to rethink all this farming business.

The worms were bad enough, but grubs… they are beyond yuck to me. The way they move they are so completely uppercase CREEPY. When I uncovered them they were all exposed and their movements were screaming, "Cover me back up! I don't want to be in the light! I want to stay in the dark!"

I put gloves on (for fear of grub touch) and I missed the first time because my gloves were too thick. My heart was pounding but I was trying to act casual about the whole thing (like I was some cool farmer who was not affected by crawling things). I was faking it big time. I finally got that grub into the bag and I zip the top real quick as if the grub is going to escape and attack me.

I wanted to go to Farmer D's right away but I got delayed so the grub was sitting in that bag for quite some time.

A couple of hours later I leave and grab the plastic grub bag and I notice that the grub is no longer white… it was now dark beige. I know the grub suffocated and I felt guilty because I killed it. It was the suffering that got me. It wasn't a quick kill.

The reality is though, that these are grubs that will soon be Japanese beetles and their goal is to destroy any tasty crops I work hard to grow. They will get to eat but I will not. It is either them or me.

So I have to do it. I am forced to be a mass murderer of Japanese beetle larvae. I have to sprinkle the Milky Spore on the farm to kill the Japanese beetles and this will deprive the hens of some tasty morsels. It must be done.

There was a reminder for me in the grub episode though. Sometimes there are things buried inside of us that could be eating away slowly, but surely. We can pretend they aren't there or cover those buried things even further but it will only cause more problems in the end.

Spend time thinking and pondering any little buried things in you and bring them to the surface. Once you see exactly what you are dealing with, then you can get to the right organic solution.

The Great Indicator

Past history is a great indicator of what could happen in the future.

We can usually count on the past to give us an idea of how an individual or group will respond to a particular situation.

It makes sense to look back to see how disasters were handled by our government, wouldn't you agree?

Think for yourself and if the advice given appears to be unsound, it probably is.

Listen to your gut!

Supporting Your Thyroid

For those of you that are watching the news to see where the meltdown of Fukushima is headed do subscribe to Mike Adam's Natural News Newsletter.

Mike is up to date on all of it and is giving out great preparedness tips that may save you if the situation gets out of hand.

I am not fully stocked with iodine myself, meaning, I have a minimal supply. I checked my cupboards and I have raw food supplements though, and these are still available online and in stores so grab them while you can.

I am fortunate to have an almost full bottle of the nascent iodine, about a pound of super strong blue green algae, two packages of spirulina crunchies and plenty of Dr. Kim's Super Greens. I have enough stock for the girls and I until the new supply of iodine and chlorella I ordered arrives. My youngest daughter loves chewing on chlorella tablets.

I also took Mike's advice and headed on over to Home Depot to buy plastic and masking tape in the event that there is a terrible disaster. We would need to put plastic on the windows to keep the radiation from leaking in.

I picked up a solar powered radio as well because I did not have one(!) and should have had one all these years (it was the LAST one Home Depot had). We are stocked with water and food and since we are the ones that will be sitting tight and not trying to get out of dodge if things get crazy, we will do the best we can with what we have.

I pray that all will be okay but at the same time I know what this could bring… so I will keep on praying that all will be okay but mostly I will be praying and asking the Creator to have mercy on us.

Iodine Frenzy

iodine, hyperthyroidism

14 iodine tablets on the black market – selling on Internet sites such as eBay, reached $540.

I don't like to be a speaker of doom but the reality of what is about to come is going to be here any moment so I have to say something. Those of us that have any sense of preparedness in us are reaching for iodine right now because we know that we are in the path of the radiation plume.

The effects of this radiation are being downplayed heavily by health and nuclear experts but we can almost be guaranteed that things are worse than we are being told. Two years ago I reminded everyone that most of the population was deficient in iodine and many of you wrote to me and said you were taking supplemental iodine because you were aware of this problem. GOOD FOR YOU! But what about the rest of the population who is most likely deficient? What effects will this radiation have on them?

I am very familiar with thyroid issues as I worked with hundreds of you who where hypo and hyperthyroid back in the day. I listened to countless stories of ill health due to low and high thyroid and they broke my heart every time I heard them. I had a whole web site dedicated to natural healing and coping with thyroid issues. I even dealt with my own thyroid problems after my second child was born, so I could relate to the those that suffer 100%.

Both HYPO and HYPERthyroid affect the quality of life so drastically that some who suffer feel like they are dying a slow death; they live with pain from fibromyalgia, they can barely get out of bed and the list goes on.

With so many cases of clinical hypothyroidism being underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed, as I sit here and type this I can only wonder how much sicker our population may become from this last blast. Years ago many experts said that the onslaught of thyroid problems in the US had to do with the down winds from Chernobyl as well as fluoridation in the water. So this new nuclear mess is just adding to an already sick situation.

If any of you are not taking iodine, you need to start taking it immediately, if you can find any. Iodine supplements are being sold out everywhere, and I read it is even being traded on the black market. The key is taking the iodine BEFORE you get exposed.

We are in the end of days as we currently know it. Can you see it?

What we can surely see is how every one of us touch each other, no matter where we live. Even a country as far as Japan can affect us over in the US. All of us are connected and we can put up borders and blocks and protect ourselves all we want. In the end, though, we are all connected and what every country and person does, absolutely matters to every person and living thing on the planet we call Earth.

REVIEW: NatureMill Compost Made Easy

worms, earthworms, creepy

There is one thing about gardening that gives me the willies. It is those worms…

I don't know exactly when I became completely creeped out by worms but I have an idea when it came about.

I recall my brother sitting on a cement porch that was painted green back in the 1960's. He sat there with a worm in his little hand, completely fascinated with how it could be pulled without breaking. This attraction caused him to stretch that worm so far between both his thumbs and forefingers that what came next was no surprise.

My little brother couldn't resist licking that stretched out worm and the more grossed out I was and screamed for him to stop, the more he licked it. He treated that worm like it was some kind of lolly pop or ice cream cone. Maybe that is when I got completely creeped out by shiny worms like the ones shown above.

What is it about worms that makes them so disturbing?

Maybe it's any one of the following:

  • They have no eyes. Where are they looking?
  • You can't tell which end is the top or bottom. Which end do I scream at?
  • They move in such a way that when I look down and see one squirming I want to run. Why do I need to run from something that is slower than a turtle?
  • That pink flesh color is just plain undesirable and flat out naked looking (immodest actually…). Even a caterpillar is more tolerable because it wears some sort of an outfit.
  • When it rains like cats and dogs it is actually worms that are coming out of the sky and there is proof on the ground afterwards. Why do worms need to flood the streets and sidewalks making it impossible to avoid squashing at least one underfoot after a rainstorm?

In any event, I take it I am not the ONLY one who is not digging worms (pun intended) because the NatureMill Compost Made Easy is designed to avoid contact with the all important worm and other bugs. All I do is put the sawdust, baking soda and scraps in the compost and it turns into super charged fertilizer for the plant beds.

No longer do you have to open the stinking compost and stir all those bugs and insects that are going to town on the rotten mess.

I know bugs and worms are a part of the Tooth Soap® Urban Farm but I am still a CITY SLICKER at heart and I need time to adjust. This NaturalMill Compost Made Easy is one way to ease me into this new urban farming lifestyle.

The Tooth Soap® Urban Farm

Farmer D raised plant beds

It's time for a serious reversal. It's time to remember where we came from so we can get back to our future.

We need to return to the land and we need to do it starting yesterday.

Tooth Soap® would like to inspire all of you to take part in nourishing your bodies… beginning with the dirt.

We have started a very small Urban Farm that includes container gardening and 10 " raised plant beds made from non-chemically treated western red cedar wood grown in sustainable forests. This cedar naturally resists rotting and allows for excellent drainage, reduces weeds and also adds beauty to the landscape.

The vegetables and herbs will be grown in bio-dynamic soil that is made (in part) by composting fruit and vegetable scraps from Whole Foods in Atlanta. Farmer D Organics and Whole Foods work together by reducing what goes into landfills in Georgia. What a beautiful partnership – both businesses working together to recycle organic waste and sustain the local environment.

We are installing an irrigation 'drip' system in the raised beds that conserves water. Now all we have to do is depend on an absent minded farmer (who might be blogging or running a corporation) to turn on the water twice a day.

Planting in raised beds offers many advantages, especially for the urban farmer. They can be placed ANYWHERE, including a concrete driveway if need be! There is no excuse to not have a garden now.

There are many plant boxes that could be put on a balcony if there isn't a back yard. All you need is desire and some sunshine and you too can be on your way to being an urban farmer! A 4 foot square plant bed is sufficient to feed a married couple so very little space is needed to become an urban farmer.

Fresh herbs and vegetables are not the only thing we are tending to at the Tooth Soap® Urban Farm. We are also going to be raising chickens that will have full freedom to cruise the range and eat bugs, weeds and whatever else they choose to forage for in the grass.

These hens are being raised for their eggs only and will not be headed for a soup pot anytime if we can help it. These beautiful birds are appreciated for the wonderful eggs that they lay, every day without fail. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving!

Our pullets (juvenile hens) are due to arrive in early April and should start laying eggs in mid July. These hens are NOT beak trimmed, they are floor raised and socialized. I am not clear on how a non-socialized chicken acts and will never know because we only allow socialized hens at the Tooth Soap® Urban Farm

I have talked to some (eccentric) people who raise chickens in backyards in Atlanta (they are legal here) and they tell me that chickens are so sweet and that they each have a unique and different personality. I am thinking they may even have some serious Chicken Wisdom too. I am very open to Chicken Wisdom even if that means I have to be quiet and listen to the hens.

If you have not tasted fresh and truly free range chicken eggs it will suffice to say that once you do try them, you will not want to go back to the stale store bought variety again. The yolk of an egg from a hen who gets to run free is almost orange and tastes delicious.

These yolks are a golden elixir that is loaded with nutrients that are good for all parts of you, but especially your TEETH!

Egg yolks are amazing nutrition for teeth and if you don't eat eggs now you should because they will help you keep your choppers for life.

Stay tuned for fun times at the Tooth Soap® Urban Farm. It should be a riot since I freak out when I see a worm after it rains. I believe there will be many worms in the garden. Ewwww, good thing I bought some cool bamboo gardening gloves to protect my hands.

Oh, and that laser treatment for hands, I decided to forget it. My hands are going to be in the dirt and the chicken coop from now on. My main concern will be dirt or gunk underneath my fingernails. I will obsess about that from now on instead. :D

Tweets From Down Under

This story was told to me as being a true one and not a fable.

Over two hundred years ago there was a baby bird who had fallen out of its nest. When she hit the ground she broke a wing. She was young, helpless and now handicapped and her mother was no where in sight.

A cow happened to walk by and dropped a cow pie… and it landed directly on top of the little bird. The pie covered the poor bird completely. The little bird was not visible at all but began chirping like crazy!

A farmer then rode by on his horse and suddenly heard consistent and rapid bird chirping… but it sounded like it was coming from the ground. He stopped and got off his horse to see where all the happy tweets were coming from. He looked around with a puzzled look on his face and then realized that the chirping was coming from underneath a rather large cow pie about 3 feet away.

The farmer put on his latex gloves (oh, maybe they didn't have those 200 years ago…) and uncovered the bird from underneath the pie. He rushed the bird home and cleaned it off well, he fed it and nurtured it until the wing was healed. The farmer became very fond of the little bird.

The farmer was bothered by one thing though. From the moment the bird was removed from the cow pie, it stopped chirping happily. The farmer couldn't understand why because he did the best he could to help the bird recover. But the bird never chirped. Not even once.

One day a holy Sage happened to come through the farmer's town. This Sage had a special gift which was communicating with animals. He had the wisdom that enabled him to speak to them and understand what they were saying. The farmer asked the Sage to come to his farm and talk to the little bird to see why she stopped chirping.

The Sage went to the farm and asked the bird what happened. "Why did you stop chirping? The farmer rescued you from the dung and took care of you and helped you to recover. Why don't you ever chirp now and why were you chirping so happily while under the dung?" asked the Sage.

The bird replied "I was all alone in the world with no one to help me. I fell out of my nest and was cold and miserable and didn't know if I would ever feel comfort again. Then, all of sudden, a lovely and warm mass enveloped my body. I was completely covered with this mass and I was snug and felt protected and safe. Then, the farmer comes and takes me out of my comfort zone and my warm place, and rinses all of it off and puts me in this nice and clean environment. Why should I be chirping now? It was so nice before, and I was so warm and cozy and comfortable where I was."

This story is relevant today because so many don't understand that they too are living underneath a cow pie and find it quite comfortable. Too many are blinded by the mass and the masses are blind.

Rinsing off the mass (mess) leaves us vulnerable and sometimes we might think that it's better to be back underneath the dung than to face the challenges and growth that lie ahead.

It is easy to become comfortable with unhealthy things and places.

What unhealthy coverings do you find comfort in?

Speaking of coverings… did you know that your teeth will NEVER be covered with anything if you brush with Tooth Soap®?

It's true.

Your teeth and gums don't ever have to be under any unhealthy coverings again. Tooth Soap® will clean your teeth so well you will start chirping and you won't stop no matter how many times you rinse out your mouth.

Crunch These Instead

Who doesn't love the crunch of a good chip? We all do because they taste good and more importantly, chewing relieves stress.

There was a study done many years ago that showed that chewing frequently helped reduce stress and that's why people were reaching for crunchy junk food and overeating it.

I have one solution for that gluttonous urge to crunch to obesity.

It just takes a little time on your part and a dehydrator. This is a great way to get regular vegetables into your child's diet too.

Zucchini Chips with Faux Cheese Sauce

You might be thinking it is too much work but once you get into the routine of making vegetable chips, it's a breeze. And these chips have SUBSTANCE. Some are on the crunchy/chewy side and are not like potato chips that melt in your mouth.

You won't eat a bag of these, but you will have a small handful of them. The nutrients in bell peppers help build strong gum tissue and there is plenty of fiber to keep everything running smoothly.

If you have a picky one or don't want a chip with strong flavor, skip the garlic and use just bell pepper, almond butter and salt for the sauce.

The Weekly Plaid #2

smoking, pipes, Scottish man, kilt plaid

We are glad this gentleman enjoys the clean refreshing taste of Fennel Mint Tooth Soap®. It is especially nice to know that he is considerate of others by brushing after smoking

Most everyone who smokes is trying to quit (at one point) so we won't harp on that… but we do want to remind those that do smoke to take extra vitamins and minerals as smoking depletes certain nutrients that are vital for healthy teeth and gums.

There is always a price to pay for the pleasures we insist on having in this world so keep that in mind if you smoke, and pump up the nutrition to save your teeth and gums.

REVIEW: Exilis Thermal Laser

It is the Exilis Thermal Laser and it's the HOTTEST new device for toning, tightening and smoothing the skin. It is brand new on the market, just approved by the FDA and I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to get this interview and catch all on video.

Dr. Atkins from Atlanta Medical Day Spa demonstrates the Exilis by having a treatment performed on her own hand. See the incredible before and after I caught on camera!

I must get this treatment for my hands because they need it… and in a serious way. The thing about hands is that they do so much and over time there is no way to disguise all the wear and tear (help and love). They offer help to so many and it shows.

I should be less superficial and not so susceptible (sheep-like baaaaa) to instant gratification that the world is offering me everywhere I look. Where is my spiritual side? It is being stifled at the moment. My physical desires are dominating once again. It is challenging to balance the two polar opposites of spirituality and physicality, but it must done.

Two hours before I was in deep prayer, not even caring if I had a body, and I even wept at one point. Now I am thinking of a plastic procedure to remove the age from my hands? How did I get here? This is sick, really. This world of erasing is really twisted but at the same time, I love that it is available if I choose to engage.

Why can't I appreciate every spot and vein and line on my hands? It means I was given a gift of almost 48 years of life. My birthday is just around the corner and I deserve every part of my aging hands. I earned them!

That sounds so good and nice and it's truly how I feel inside, but after I saw what the Exilis laser did on Dr. Atkins hand, the shallow part of me rose to the surface and I made an appointment to get the treatment on my own hands. When you see the miracle right in front of your face, it's hard to resist booking an appointment (immediately if not sooner, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars).

I have been a fan of non-ablative lasers for years and attribute them to keeping my skin from hanging to the floor so I continue to recommend them as they are on the far end of the scale of plastic, when it comes to procedures.

On this plastic scale I put cosmetic procedures into two categories:

A. Non-invasive – no cutting, minimal or no downtime, subtle results, preserve or gently enhance your look but not change the way you look and

B. Invasive – general anesthesia, cutting, blood, stitches, days or weeks of downtime, dramatic results that leave permanent change and definitely change the way you look

Non-ablative lasers are in the non-invasive category. If you go to the Exilis web site and look at the before and after pictures, there is a difference, but it is subtle. The women look rested after 4 treatments but they still look like themselves. This is what non-invasive treatments do. They offer a subtle, natural looking and fresher looking you.

The key to these treatments is getting them when you are still on the young"ish" side of the hill. I tried to pinpoint an age from Dr. Atkins but she resisted and said "When you're ready". I say start at least by 40 because that is when everything begins to drop and you will begin to fight the "sink and hang" syndrome. It's not a bad thing, but just a little reality that we have to encounter to remind us that we are not lasting forever.

The Exilis looks very promising and at $400 per treatment, it is very affordable compared to traditional laser treatments that can cost thousands. Excellent and lasting results can be seen after just 4 treatments.

What I like most about these non-ablative treatments is that they make the skin look so good that you can wear less and less makeup, as time goes on. That means less chemicals on the skin. Getting regular non-ablative laser treatments has saved me from purchasing and putting on a lot foundation over the last few years. I only wear it when I go out in public (carpool and the grocery store doesn't count) or when on camera.

As we age we can't wear as much makeup because it sits in the fine lines and makes them look worse making us look even older. This is another reason why I like these treatments. I guess they make letting go of makeup easier.

Look for Exilis near you and make sure you have a good doctor who is experienced with non-ablative lasers.

If you happen to live in or near the Atlanta area, definitely give Dr. Atkins a call.

Fluoride Info For Contemplation

Many people have written to me over the years asking about fluoride and my answer has been the same.

Do all the research you can on the subject then make an educated decision for yourself.

And that goes for everything in life. We can no longer just trust what others tell us to be true. We must investigate so that we are positive what we are doing is right.

For those that would like to contemplate fluoride here is an excellent video from Natural News TV that shows the history and industry of fluoride.

Our world has so much information available to everyone now via the web that claiming ignorance will no longer be a viable excuse. Not that it ever was, but with all the mouth pieces screaming truth, those that don't listen are choosing to look the other way. This is a dangerous way to live in my opinion.

Get the facts and protect yourself. If you won't do it, who will?

Kids Love The E.A.T. Salad

This salad was such a hit that the girls begged me to make it twice in 24 hours. I made a sampling for dinner and they wanted it again for breakfast.

I call it the E.A.T. Salad and I found it in one of the free "Primal Diet" recipes. The original recipe calls for bacon but I don't eat pork so I thought that smoked fish might work instead so I planned on using smoked salmon. But I didn't have any when I made the salad so it was sans fish. It was still totally YUMMY!

The ingredients are simple:

1 perfect avocado

1 gorgeous tomato

4 soft boiled eggs, lovingly peeled

fresh squeezed lemon juice

Himalayan Crystal Salt (or any good sea salt)

Btw, I am showing you how to boil eggs because I have actually met people who don't know how to do this. :)

The eggs are excellent for your teeth and the avocado and tomatoes do wonders for your entire body by providing vitamins, minerals, enzymes and fatty acids to all those cells you are responsible for supporting.

Enjoy this salad and make sure to rinse with a little water while eating it to neutralize the food acids that attack enamel on teeth.

Then brush with Tooth Soap®, of course.
